Cat With Only Two Legs Plays And Sleeps In The Cutest Ways

In many ways, Pancake isn't different than any other cat. She eats, plays and uses her litter box. She also naps for most of the day, as most cats do.

But Pancake is different. She was born with skeletal deformities, and doesn't have front legs or paws. In fact, her physical differences almost cost Pancake her life - the family who had her was going to put her down, according to Meagan Malone, Pancake's mom.

Luckily for Pancake, Malone offered to adopt her.

"I said I would take her," Malone told The Dodo. "I was talking about getting a cat anyway, and I was going to go to the Humane Society."

Malone had never cared for a cat with special needs before, but another two-legged cat named Mercury inspired her to take a chance on Pancake.

"Before I got Pancake, I saw pictures of Mercury and videos of him playing," Malone said. "And I thought, they're doing a really good job with Mercury, so Pancake deserves a shot. Just because she's different didn't mean that she'd have less of a chance."

Pancake thrived with Malone, and she quickly figured out how to get around on the two legs she had.

"She'll either walk really slowly on two legs, or she'll just bunny hop around," Malone explained. "Or she stands upright and hops like a kangaroo. She'll go up and down stairs just fine, and she'll hop up on couches or beds."

Pancake also has a special - and very cute - way of playing. "She'll follow something with her eyes, and she'll get really excited," Malone said. "She can't reach out and grab it, so she'll jump on it. Every time I walk into my room, she's hiding behind something. And as soon as I walk past, she jumps out to try and surprise me, and then she hops around on her feet to try and play with me."

When Pancake's tired, she stretches out onto her back and curves her spine into a 'C.' "She's very relaxed when she sleeps," Malone said.

Pancake may be different, but Malone doesn't think she has any idea. "I don't think she knows she's any different, or that she's supposed to be a different way," she said.

"She's got so much spirit, and I miss her when I'm at work and I miss her when I'm not in the house," Malone said. "She's always happy to see me."
