Snake Gets Special Little 'Braces' To Help Fix Her Overbite

There's no doubt that this green tree python named Toothless is a very beautiful snake β€” but recently, a feeding mishap left her looking a bit less sleek than nature intended.

In short, she gave herself an overbite.

According to a post from HerpVet, an animal hospital in Australia specializing in reptiles, Toothless was in the middle of enjoying a meal when something went terribly, terribly wrong.

"Somehow, during the swallowing process her left lower jawbone folded and got stuck on her throat," HerpVet wrote online.

It was obvious that Toothless needed help.

Fortunately, Tootheless's owners understood she was having an emergency. They rushed her to the vet, where an X-ray revealed a small break in her jawbone.

Rather than risk surgery to correct the problem, Toothless's vet got creative.

After realigning her jaw, they crafted special braces for the snake using a paperclip, affixing it to her scales with glue.

Thanks to the improvised treatment, Toothless was on the path to recovery.

"This stayed on until she shed and this was long enough to allow her to heal," HerpVet wrote.

Before long, the brace came off β€” and Toothless was back to looking like her old self once again.

Here she is at her final checkup:
