PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE APPLYING.

If you are applying for multiple dogs at multiple rescues, we ask that you not apply for a Cause dog yet. We are small and foster based and rescue on the side. When we work to coordinate home checks and then a potential adopter adopts another dog in the meantime, it is very hard on us. Please apply when you are 100% interested in one of our dogs so we do not invest time into the adoption process with you. Please also always have the courtesy to let us know if you adopted another dog in the meantime after applying.

Also understand rescued pets often come from neglectful, abusive, or otherwise substandard situations, so please understand many of our available dogs may need basic training, have poor indoor manners (as they lived outside most of their lives), may require potty training, etc. We work with them as much as possible with trainers as well as in our homes during the foster period to ensure they are adoptable. No dog is ever "perfect," although we think they all are, but a rescued dog can come with emotional baggage that not everyone is ready to handle. They may take longer to bond with you and trust you. They may have separation anxiety, and scratch at your doors and eat your shoes when left alone. They say dogs only live in the "now," but some of our dogs are more sensitive than others, and have lasting idiosyncrasies that require a patient, loving and understanding human. So please make sure you are ready to embark on one of the most fulfilling and challenging adventures ever - rescuing a dog. If you are, you will find yourself being "rescued" just as much as the baby you are rescuing.

Are you applying for a number of dogs from different rescues or just this dog? We ask that you wait until you are fairly certain this is the dog for you before you apply. We understand you may adopt another dog as we coordinate this adoption, so please be courteous, keep in touch with us throughout this process, and notify us if you do adopt another dog and/or are no longer interested in this dog. *

Please state yes to indicate you have read and understand our adoption fees. Adoption fees range and include spay/neuter, vaccines (rabies 4 mos & older, DA2PP, and oral Bordatella), deworming, flea/tick treatment, Home Again microchip & microchip registration, and any medically necessary vetting needed (such as dental, bloodwork, hernia repair, mass removal, surgeries, etc.). Puppy adoption fee is $350-$400. Adult fee is $250. Seniors and harder to adopt babies can range from $150-$200, depending on ongoing medical issues.*

Pets can have medical issues that we don't know about. Medical needs could be discovered weeks, months, or years after adoption. Are you financially prepared to take your pet to the vet and cover the cost of necessary treatments throughout your pet's lifetime?*

Are you willing to potty train your new dog, and endure the frustrations that will come from it? Even older dogs that are fully potty trained in one home, may need potty training in a new home. Please explain.*

If you adopt this Cause for SB Paws dog, what is your back-up plan in the event anything should happen to you? Who would care for and/or take the dog if you became ill, incapacitated, or were otherwise unable to care for the dog?

Under what circumstances would you ever "return" a Cause for SB Paws dog to us that you adopted from us? Please explain.*

If you move, would you take your pet with you?*

We HIGHLY recommend training, especially if you are adopting a pup under 1 year. Training ensures proper socialization and minimizes the chance of problems later, after the pup is over a year. Are you open to signing up for a training class with your new pup or dog? Please explain.*
